Why Choose Us?

While you’re with us, we will strive to give you every chance to see and treat a wide variety of clients. We will also endeavour to give you an understanding of the way in which a community allied health company is run, and consequently an insight into what you can expect as a future clinician. Some of the things you will be exposed to are:

  • The NDIS – what it is, how it works, and how to navigate the system
  • Mobile workplace and hybrid offices
  • Multidisciplinary involvement
  • Conducting therapy in a variety of home environment or community environments

Available Placements

Gen Physio offers student placements in

  • Physiotherapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Speech Pathology
  • Dietetics
  • Exercise Physiology
  • Podiatry

We are highly experienced with students and have APP, SPEF-R2, COMPASS, comprehensive training in student assessments.

Observational vs Practical Placements

  • Observational: generally within the first couple of years of study, watching over the shoulder of the clinician. These are typically shorter placement days.
  • Practical: Those in their 3rd or 4th year of their course. During this, you will participate and lead therapy sessions over weeks or months.

Practical placements will be “onboarded” into the company and treated as one of the team. We will log them into software to ensure we provide an accurate representation of what it’s like working in the community.

Hear from other students!

“I think if anyone doesn’t get GenPhysio [as a placement], they will be missing out. It’s the most real and personal experience you can get with everyday kids in their homes or at school, and it was fantastic to see the course works practically.” – James Fern, The University of Queensland
