The benefit of home-visits is that we come to you, and we will bring along with us the necessary equipment we can carry in our cars. This means that you only need to wear clothes that you are comfortable exercising in, closed-in shoes are recommended, and a water bottle to keep you hydrated throughout your first session.
It also makes it a bit easier for us to prescribe safe exercises if you can have a list of your medical history and medications ready, so that we can go through and ask any questions we might have.
Exercise physiologists use the initial consult to get to know you, and how we can best help you. We try to get to know your medical history, lifestyle and physical activity habits, so that we can develop goals together to best serve your needs.
After we get to know you, your exercise physiologist will develop a few assessments that will give us some baseline information. These assessments will then be redone after a few sessions, so that we are able to see if the exercises we have given you have allowed you to progress towards your goals.
Hydrotherapy is best defined as therapeutic exercise completed in a heated pool and can be very beneficial as it assists in improving pain management, mobility, cardiovascular endurance and muscular strength.
All our exercise physiologists have experience with hydrotherapy, and often see clients at pools within the community. Your exercise physiologist will complete an assessment, and work with you to formulate a plan to allow you to complete hydrotherapy in a safe and beneficial environment.
