Hydrotherapy can be conducted on a one-on-one basis, or in group sessions. Each hydrotherapy session incorporates individual assessment, diagnosis and the use of clinical reasoning skills to formulate a treatment program that is appropriate to your needs.

What is Hydrotherapy?

Hydrotherapy is a common practice of rehabilitation or exercise performed in water, usually a heated indoor pool to around 33-36 degrees Celsius. Hydrotherapy pools are usually shallow enough to allow for walking along the entire length, so swimming ability is not necessary. 

How does Hydrotherapy work?

The aim of hydrotherapy is to relax muscles, improving range of motion, muscle strength, and reducing pain within a safe and fun environment. Given the properties of water produce unique effects, this type of therapy may be even more beneficial than land-based therapy for some clients. The effects of buoyance and hydrostatic pressure can be utilized to your advantage when in the water. 

Who can provide Hydrotherapy sessions?

Our Exercise Physiologists and Physiotherapists can provide Hydrotherapy services within your home if you have access to a swimming pool or at a local pool. Hydrotherapy is an effective, safe, and fun rehabilitation or exercise program that can assist with many common conditions such as lower back pain and arthritis.
