Keira has just celebrated her one year anniversary with Gen Physio; originally starting as a Speech Pathology graduate, she has been working hard throughout the year to build her caseload and increase her clinical knowledge. We’re really excited to see Keira’s growth in her second year with Gen Physio.

For this month’s Employee Feature, we sat down with Keira:

What is your background?
I grew up on the Sunshine Coast and studied Speech Pathology at the University of Queensland. Throughout my degree, I gained experience working in a private setting with children under the NDIS scheme, at a Speech Pathology and Occupational Therapy clinic, in acute hospital care and, at an Indigenous school. I am proud to say I have now been a Speech Pathologist with Gen Physio for a year and have enjoyed every moment of it.

How has your role progressed with Gen Physio?
My Speech Pathology journey with Gen Physio started on the Sunshine Coast, where, for the first two weeks, I shadowed Lizzy, one of our more experienced Speech Pathologists. Being out on the road with Lizzy was really fun and also provided the perfect level of support for me to build up my confidence and, learn the ropes before I started servicing clients by myself.

Initially, my caseload started off with just a couple of clients every week, then, gradually increased over time when I started to find my feet and become more familiar with my role. The Sunshine Coast was a really great location for me to start because my caseload was never overwhelming, and I could ease into my new job comfortably.
